Time for each child

Children need different things. Some need more help, while others already do a lot on their own.

I take time to get to know your children and understand what they need. I care for them in your home. Together, we talk about what I should keep in mind.

I care for no more than three children at a time, so I have time for each of them.

What our day could look like

Help with everyday routines

Getting ready in the morning or picking up the children later: we agree on which tasks I take on.

Before kindergarten and school

I help the children put their shoes on and get ready. I can also accompany them to school, on foot or by bus.

Mornings

Play and homework

We can cook or do crafts together. I also help with homework and spend time outdoors with the children.

Daytime

Pick-ups and evenings

If your children attend a class, I can pick them up afterwards. In the evening, I can prepare their meal or stay while you go out.

Evenings

About me

How I came to childcare

Working with children has been something I wanted to do since I was a girl.

I now live in Buochs, Nidwalden.

I first trained in retail, where I worked for 13 years. I enjoyed working with people. My wish to work with children grew stronger, so I completed a second qualification: Fachfrau Betreuung EFZ, specialising in children. The training strengthened my decision to work with children.

I spent two years working as a nanny for a family. I cared for the children from morning until evening and cooked for them. I have also regularly looked after friends’ children. I have worked as a babysitter since I was 15.

I would like to work in that personal setting again. With one child or a small group, I can pay closer attention to each child.

In my free time, I enjoy painting and crafts, as well as being outdoors. I also enjoy sharing these activities with children.

My qualification: Fachfrau Betreuung EFZ, specialising in children

EFZ is the Swiss Federal Certificate of Competence. I qualified through the adult route under Article 32. It covers the same professional content as the three-year vocational programme and focuses on caring for children in everyday life and understanding their development.

The children’s specialisation includes caring for babies and toddlers and helping children settle into a new childcare setting. It also covers transitions during the day and supporting children in groups.

Another focus is observing what a child can already do and what interests them. This helps with planning suitable play and activities. Children should be able to take part in decisions and try things for themselves.

The programme also covers working with parents and respecting privacy. It includes meals and personal care, as well as responding to illness, accidents and emergencies.

What matters to me in childcare

Taking feelings seriously

Comforting a child who is sad is part of my job. When a child is happy, I enjoy laughing with them. I want to notice how your children are feeling and understand what they need.

That is also why I want to care for no more than three children at a time. It gives me time for each child.

Letting children try

Your children should be able to try things for themselves and have a say in everyday decisions. When we play or do crafts, I give them time and help when they need me.

I also carry responsibility as their carer. Their independence and my responsibility to keep them safe both matter.

Knowing your wishes

What matters to you as parents matters to me too. I want to discuss your children’s needs and the tasks I take on.

I hope you can come home and enjoy hearing about your children’s day. We talk together about what works for your family.

Respecting your privacy

As a nanny, I get to know your family’s daily life. Clear agreements and respect for your privacy are part of that.

By “big sister”, I mean a familiar person for the children. My work also means respecting personal boundaries and keeping our agreements.
